How to Look Awake
Getting up in the morning can be tough and sometimes you know only feel half asleep, but you look it too! If you don’t want to go to work looking like you’re been up all night, here’s how to look awake even when you don’t feel it.
Step 1
Take a cold shower.
Nothing picks you up faster and gets the circulation going quicker than a cold shower. Be brave and jump right in! Let the cold water hit your face and add some color to your cheeks. You’ll look awake in no time.
Step 2
Get rid of those puffy eyes.
Once you’re out of the shower, if your eyes still look puffy, lay down for ten minutes with a package of frozen vegetables over each eye. The cold will take the swelling down in no time and you’ll look more awake instantly.
Step 3
Get the red out.
Use eyedrops that brighten and remove the red such as Visine. Be aware that this type of eyedrop only temporarily relieves redness and shouldn’t be used every day since they can cause “rebound redness”, but they’re okay for occasional use.
Step 4
Choose your makeup carefully.
Resist the urge to put on extra makeup to help you look more awake. This usually ends up backfiring on you. Use a concealer to hide dark circles and go light on the eye makeup. One trick is to use a very pale eyeliner on the inside of your lower lids. An example of a product that works for this is called “Brite Eyes”.
Step 5
Wear a little lipstick.
A light application of a brightly colored lipstick can be very effective at making you look more awake. It’ll make your whole face look brighter and it works instantly.
Step 6
Drink lots of water.
When you’re dehydrated, which you usually are if you’ve stayed out too late, your skin will look pale and tired. Drinks lots of water, but stay away from salt which can cause fluid retention and puffiness.
